於香港出生及長大,畢業於香港理工大學時裝設計系,在時裝及創作行業工作超過17年,於2007至2013年間擔任時裝零售巨擎 JOYCE的副總裁,主理市場傳訊及創作部。在加入時裝零售界之前,她是潮流雜誌《士多》出版人之一,並曾任時裝雜誌編輯。2011年出版雙語書藉《私收藏》,於香港及海外生活時尚店Colette(巴黎)及10 Corso Como (米蘭) 發售。2013年,Ning Lau 創立了網上時尚平台who ARE invited (www.whoareinvited.com) ,推動了香港媒體電子化的發展新模式。
2015年,她正式投身娃娃創作的藝術領域,將多年來對娃娃的愛好化作工餘作業,以過往修讀時裝設計時所獲得的縫紉知識,一針一線全人手縫製出不同性格的女生角色,細緻刻畫出現代人的各種有趣性格及心態,先後獲不同組織及品牌邀請合作進行各種形式的創作企劃包括:2017年與國際時裝設計師Vika Gazinskaya合作於莫斯科高級名店TSUM舉行展覽活動、LVMH集團旗下品牌Moynat的VIP娃娃製作班、香港貿易發展局於2016年舉辦的香港時裝周 Fashionally,特別製作一系列娃娃穿上本地時裝年青設計師的作品、Shu Ueumura x 法國品牌Kitsune 限量美妝娃娃系列、2015年JOYCE 聖誕系列製作了多個世界級品牌娃娃,她更於2015年底於香港舉行首個個人娃娃展覽 Lazy Susan,翌年三月獲山頂廣場邀請舉辦 Susan & Friends 的大型商場娃娃作品展。香港貿易發展局旗下的香港設計廊邀請Ning 於2017年1月舉行她的娃娃作品展—「我愛香港」,並首次發售一系列娃娃產品。
她獨特而具啟及性的追夢故事廣受香港及國際媒體報導,包括:WWD, Vogue China, Madame Figaro, L’Officiel, Grazia, Buro 24/7, Vogue Russia, Doll Master, Harper’s Bazaar, Apple Daily, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Numero, Modern Weekly 等等。
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Ning graduated from BA (Hons) Fashion Design in Degree at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Ning Lau was the Vice President of fashion empire JOYCE (LaneCrawford Joyce Group) between 2007 and 2013. Before she joined the retail industry, she was the founder and publisher of “Store Magazine” distributed in Hong Kong, Taiwan, London and New York. In 2011, Ning published her bilingual book, “My Treasures”, which was sold in Hong Kong, Paris Colette, and Milan 10 Corso Como.
Ning founded the online fashion platform “who ARE invited” (www.whoareinvited.com) in 2013 which revolutionized Hong Kong’s digital media scene. Ning finally dove into the art of handmade dolls in 2015, turning her love for dolls over the years into a part-time passion. Making use of her sewing skills from her fashion design days, she made dolls that are hand-sewn from scratch, giving them quirky and unique characters that reflect the modern life.
Ning has been collaborating with different organization and brands on doll projects : international fashion designer Vika Gazinskaya x Ning Lau doll exhibition with department store TSUM in Russia in Oct 2017, LVMH luxury brand Moynat VIP doll workshop, “Fashionally Collection 2016” project of Hong Kong Fashion Week by Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, Shu Ueumura X Kitsune limited cosmetics collection, 2015 Christmas program of JOYCE to handmade fashion dolls to name a few.
